4. How did you use new media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?

We started off doing research and planning and looking at various groups and artists we could base our media video on. We used various internet sites such as:

Social networking sites such as Facebook and MySpace were helpful to our research as we could see a wide-range of different music videos and different ‘sounds’. This could help us to see what we would prefer to create.

With the use of YouTube we could automatically see a wide range of videos/formats and ideas that we could adapt and use or create in our own music video.

We did a lot of research and from there we developed ideas for what we wanted to do.
We came up with a ‘pop’ theme for our video. From here we researched different artists along this theme such as:

1. Steps
2. S club 7
3. Blue
4. 80’s bands
5. Pop cheesy music

We looked in detail at 80’s and 90’s groups that
we could take ideas from.

We used Premier to edit our music video and we recorded our process on Blogspot. We added title shots, screen shots, still shots and various other shots to help develop our video and make it eye-catching and individual.

The first scene is the drawing of the heart, with this we zoomed in and edited. This image helps to represent that.

We used many various types of technology for our music video which included special effects such as fades and transitions.

We used effects such as - Blue Screen Key (which we have used for the footage filmed on blue screen, to change the colour of the background)
- Chromakey (we also used this for some of the blue screen footage, because it had more features than the blue screen key which allowed us to experiment more)
- Colour Key (we used this to achieve the halo effect, an outline around the Barbie’s to represent the fantasy world)
-Luma Key (we used this when the footage was filmed on the white screen to change the background)
-Cross
-Zoom
-Swap
-Doors
-Cube Spin
-Swing In
-Tumble Away
-Push

We used Photoshop to develop and enhance our band pictures to help it fit with the theme and general idea of the video.
Early examples were edited by using Photoshop tools, such as changing the opacity and overlay of the images.

This helps enhance our images and allowed us to experiment more with our theme.

We used premier to adjust our video and also the audacity of the song we have chosen to use.
