Possible placements for magazine advertisement

Before making our magazine advert we have had to consider possible locations for it to be placed to ensure maximum sales and maximum visability. It would be pointless to place an advert for our acoustic artist in a drum and bass magazine because it would be completely out of place and the likelihood of sales would be incredibly low.

NME - Is a long and well established rock and pop magazine. This would be an ideal place for our artist because he creates a new an interesting style that could be seen as a cross over between pop and rock - Alternative. Due to this magazine being well established, it means that it already has a wide fan base and a large amount of brand loyalty. This means that sales will be high so the advert is more likely to be seen by a larger audience.

F-Roots - F-Roots is a magazine based on roots and folk music and is distributed monthly. This magazine could be useful to our artist because it could be described as almost folk music. Although, it could be argues that our artist does not have a strong ethnic root and may not be entirely relevant for this magazine.

Mojo - This is a rock and alternative magazine that is distributed monthly. This magazine has a strong reputation that is equivilant to NME. The magazine would make a perfect placement for our advert due to the style of our music being alternative. Using this kind of magazine would increase our sales and ensure that we recieve maximum sales of the CD.

Songlines - This is a "World music" magazine that focuses generally on cultural music. This means that this magazine would be least useful for our advert because our artist does not have the desired musical style to be represented within this magazine.

Kerrang! - This is the world's biggest rock selling magazine. The fact that the magazine has a strong following and reputation would suggest that it will make a perfect placement for our advert, although the style of music does not quite match. On the other hand, our music style is, in some ways, relevant to this magazine and it could be used in, maybe, one or two issues.

From this, we believe that the best magazines to publish our advert would be within NME and Mojo magazine. These magazines would allow for the highest possible sales and will ensure that the CD is advertised efficiently and effectively.
