Research

At the start of the project, we first researched bands and music of a similar genre - and the videos, album artwork and adverts they employed. The genre of "Dirty Rock N Roll" (the song we are using for the video) is very much punk, so we researched similar punk bands. We were helped in this by the Social Icons' (the band we used) myspace profiles - www.myspace.com/testosterone and www.myspace.com/socialicons. There are two as they have recently changed their name to the Social Icons. This told us the band's influences are Bowling for Soup, Blink 182, The Used, Green Day, Yellowcard, Iron Maiden, Less Than Jake, Nerf Herder, The Offspring, AC/DC, Led Zeppelin as listed by the band. We looked into the pop-punk bands more than, say, Iron Maiden and AC/DC as although there are some influences, they are bands of a different genre.

This is a video on 21 Guns by Green Day which we found was of a similar style of thing we are going to be doing (except our song does not have a happy ending).
