The first cover that I mocked up was this. When it was completed I decided I disliked it as it looked more like NME and that it was intended for a teenage audience, therefore the picture looked out of place. I decided to start from scratch and that a plain white background would be more appropriate for the genre of magazine I wanted to achieve.
