We have edited the film clips together with the voiceover and the music, and are planning on finishing the titles for next lesson. The storyboard is nearly finished too; we only need to add the titles for that as well.
We are not too happy with the music choice, however, and we are thinking of changing it for something more similar to the music used in Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging to familarise the effectiveness of both film clips.
There are also a couple of changes that have happened in the script to compensate: at the beginning of the film, we decided against this: [from end of bed; zoom into bird’s eye view of RAE writing in diary]. This was due to the changes in the location that we planned; a wardrobe had been added in place of where the camera initally was supposed to be placed, so instead we changed this to a simple mid shot of Rae lying on her bed, writing in her diary.
As well as that, we decided against this shot: [Close-up of RAE chewing pen, looking thoughtful, slow zoom in]. The zoom option on the camera that we had zoomed too quickly and we couldn't maintain the same zoom for each time we filmed, so we decided it was unnecessary.
Another change was here: [Wide shot showing hallway of house; slow zoom in]. We also thought this was unnecessary, as the viewer can tell that the location has changed; we didn't require an establishing wide shot for this so we replaced it with a mid-shot of Rae looking at Mum.
At this point in the script, we made several last minute changes:
[Track following RAE into living-room; pans to over-the-shoulder shot]
(NAN dancing, holding CD) New Kids on the Block have released a new single. They’re so old my bloody Nan likes them! [Reaction shot of RAE looking shocked] It proves everything’s going to shit.
We had to change the character due to our initial actor being absent, so we changed to a brother instead, and altered the purpose of embarrassment to being "weird".
We thought that holding a CD may result in having to use the selfsame music as backing music, but this would be a copyright breach, so we decided that the character didn't need to be holding a CD.
