I’ve collected different front covers from magazines with similar themes and genres of music to analysis layouts, fonts and colours that could be used in this theme. My magazine will follow a similar genre to the ones I have researched.
Images shown on the front tend to be in medium close up unless there is a few people being photographed and always good quality, clear images.
Bold fonts and contrasting colours seem to be used to emphasise all the titles or main headlines whereas other information or stories is in a smaller font in black or white writing. For example Q magazine uses a big red and white title in the corner and the name of the main artist starring in the issue also in a large font, the rest of the writing is significantly smaller. This makes the title and artist name look more attractive in comparison to the rest of the writing.
Target audiences for these magazines are probably teenagers and young adults who love music and pop culture.
My front cover will use these main features in order for it to look professional and well made.
