Objectives
-Add more sound clips to the news bulletins
-Record the newly modified script, ensuring more conversation is added
18th November
Throughout today's Media session, we attatched various sound clips, relating to the bulletins. For example we addressed the economical and financial slump and where appropriate we adjoined the jingle of coins, in relation to the income and tax. Another prime example being the childrens laughter we placed behind the bulletin regarding the sex education laws. In order to balance the audio levels, we had to dip the volume of the sound clips so as not to deter from the dialogue.
Acummatively we decided our script, when spoken aloud, still lacked jest and believability, considering the local format of our station we modified the dialogue. Adding more colloquial terms and general conversation, that may naturally arise.
As we recorded an entire run-through with our previous script, we were able to identify the faults-regarding pronunciation and coherency- and re-work the script to a better degree of quality. Before the lesson ended we booked the studio for over lunchtime and re-recorded some sections we had added to and then were able to ad-lib the rest of the script. We have enclosed the final version of our script:
-Jingle--Wake up with Rachael and Jade, every weekday morning from 4-10
Rachael-Welcome back I’m Rachael
Jade- And I’m Jade
Rachael- Coming up we’ve got all the latest headlines and local stories.
Jade-After months of campaigning, Barack Obama has won the US Presidential election. A pivotal mark on history made, as he becomes Americas first black president.
(Voice clip of Barack)
-Children as young as 7 are to be taught sex education in a new schooling scheme.
- The economy shrank for the first time in 16 years between July and September, confirming the UK is on the brink of a recession. In local news
-10 youths broke into the grand arcade last night and vandalised most of the shops, placing big red question marks over the one million pound security investment.
-A charity event over the weekend rose over £5.000 in aid of 10 year old Annie who was diagnosed with cancer last year. The money will go towards her treatment.
Jade- We all remember those cringe worthy talks about sex education, well now the government are proposing children as young as 7 are to be taught about “the birds and the bees”. We spoke to Janet Miller, a mother on 3, and Dr Jenny Harper a representative of Brook earlier and they both shared their views about this new law.
Rachael-We sent also sent Maura out to Wigan to see everyday people really think of sex education becoming compulsory.

Jade– Thank you Maura. I personally think children wouldn’t want to know about that type of stuff, I was a late bloomer.
Rachael- I couldn’t agree more; children should be taught about relationships. Maybe it will eventually put a stop to this teen pregnancy faze the worlds going through. I mean we’ve all been witness to the shocking statistics that have come out revealing that in England just under 1/3 of all girls will get pregnant in their teenage years it’s a sobering thought.
Jade- Very true, the thought of 1 in 3 girls being pregnant in their teenage years is just crazy!!
Rachael- Well, funnily enough talking of crazy things we all know Wigan is renowned for its pies but never of an attempt to eat 120 of the mini mouthfuls! In a bid to make the record books, the competition begins! Mike went down to get us the slice.
Mike--- I am here at the annual Wigan pie eating contest. It astonishes me the amount of pies that the sponsors of the SUPER PIES have produced to make for a world record attempt. Firstly a man called Lee Poole is at this very moment attempting to eat 120 pies in 2 hours to set the new world record. The previous record was set by Andy Thompson 2 years ago; he ate 109 pies in 2 hours 13 minutes. I haven’t got the stomach for that many but the smell is driving me wild, I’m going to eat myself stupid now! I’m Mike Middlehurst, and this is Wigan! (Clip of crowd cheering!) Back to you Rachael and Jade.
Rachael- Thanks mike, you’ve got me peckish now! And now, the best part of the show, well for the men anyway…it’s the sports!
(sport intro and commentary)
Joel- It’s been an eventful night for sports fans, not least of all with the dramatic end to the race in Brazil earning Lewis Hamilton the Formula 1 title. Lewis slipped into fifth place on the second to last corner, giving his fans lots to cheer about, as he became the youngest driver ever to clinch the title and the first British winner since 1996.
It’s been the talk of cricket fans for the last few months. The 20 million dollar match took place on Saturday, England’s highly rated Twenty20 side failed miserably to beat Alan Stanford’s superstars and claim the cash.
It’s also been a controversial weekend in football, as Bolton beat Man City 2-0 and Liverpool were beaten at Tottenham. Wigan held off Portsmouth, in a 2-1 win, and Saha’s late goal against Fulham gave Everton their first home win, whilst Man United defeated Hull 4-3 in a thriller.
