Video Coursework

For our coursework we are going to produce the opening two minutes of a teen comedy film. We chose to produce a comedy, as it is the most varied film genre. Due to the convenience of being in a college, we decided to narrow it down to a teen comedy, as not only would it be relevant to our audience but the college buildings act as suitable settings.

To assist us with the quality of this we will conduct research into the openings of other teen comedy films. This will give us an idea of how to establish the techniques used to introduce the film and create a cinematic feel, not to mention it will also make it look professional. The research will include -
  • Analysing camera shots, paying particular attention to the initial shots
  • Identifying appropriate music and SFX, if any
  • How character(s) is/are established
  • Use of dialogue, if any
  • Setting/atmosphere
  • How credits are presented, if any
  • Any similarities/trends discovered between the film clips

Below is the opening of a typical teen comedy, Walt Disney's Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen. We have only analysed the first two minutes for the obvious reason that the first two minutes is all we are going to create.
