Through the feedback, we have learnt what the audience; both target audience and otherwise, enjoyed, liked and thought worked well with the video, digipack and magazine advertisement. We had aimed for the video to have a happy atmosphere, be fun, happy and reflect the upbeat song. It needed to do all this to attract the target audience and become a good fund raiser for Breast Cancer. We feel we have achieved this because of the feedback that we have received, in which the video has been described as “Humorous” and “Cheesey” and has been said to have achieved a “happy mood”. In particular with the intended target audience of females, the story line has been enjoyed thoroughly. Males have also enjoyed the story line and found it humorous.
We had some suggestions for improvement, some of which we accepted, therefore making adjustments to our work, and others we rejected, for example, the idea that the print aspects should have included more similar pinks to the pinks appearing in the video. We thought about this suggestion, but decided against it because we wanted to portray two different qualities of the band, sophistication and the ability to have fun, and found the best way to do it was partly through colour connotations; the bright pinks in the video connoting the fun aspects, and the purple/pinks in the print work connoting sophistication but still keeping continuity by being very feminine colours.
A media studies student commented that he liked the few transitions we had included in the video and suggested we added some more. He said they added more comedy and fun to the video, in addition to aiding it to keep continuity. This was one of the suggestions we took on board and after making the additional transitions, we were really pleased with the end result. Another suggestion about special effects came from another student, who viewed the rough cut of our video. She agreed with us when we said that we were planning to add effects to convey the fantasy world; to help the audience differentiate between the fantasy storyline and reality storyline.
A pupil commented that although they liked the rough copy of the digipack, it didn't reflect the band's image that we intented it to reflect. They decided it was partly due to Hannah's, the band member on the left, position as it conveys a more edgy image, rather than the glamorous British girlband image. The finished digipack though was very successfull and we gained good feedback off other students and friends. We also showed our video to four young teenage girls (our target audience), who really enjoyed it and commented that both the digipack and advertisement would encourage them to buy it.
