Evaluation - not finished

1. In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

2. How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?

3. What have you learnt from your audience?

4. How did you use new media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation?
During the production of our music video and print products, we used a many new media technologies. For instance: video camera; Nikon stills camera; tripod; Dell computer; computer software (Adobe CS4 Premiere Pro , Illustrator, Photoshop and Microsoft Paint). These technologies have influenced our work in so many ways, and if they were not so advanced we wouldn't have been able to create our project to such a high standard. There would have been many differences in the production of our work, if this were so. For example:
- We would have had to use an old editing technique known as "crash editing". This involves two tapes being cut and pieced together, which would cause great difficulty as no mistakes or trials could be made.
- We would not have been able to add any effects to our piece, including cross fades and colour editing. This would have made our video much simpler and it would have made it difficult to create connections and significance to certain scenes, objects and characters. For example, we put past scenes in black and white as this has universal significance in representing memories.
- The social networking site MySpace allowed us to ask the artist's permission to use her material throughout our project. Without this ability we would have had to risk legal action as we were not allowed to use the song, due to copyright laws and playback issues.
Here are some screenshots of websites we used with explanations of what we used them for.
