Our group consists of four girls, Chelsea, Anastasia, Hannah and Steph. We think we will work well together, because we all have different skills, strengths and qualities, which we think will compliment each other and help us to create a good product.
First of all we begun to think and discuss what type of genre our music video and the additional aspects of the brief would be. We looked at examples of different genres on youtube. These are a few examples of eighties pop videos we looked at. We felt that these looked fun to do, acheivable but still demanding and unique.
We also considered current pop videos, for example;
But we felt more modern pop videos were too high gloss for what we wanted to do, making us want to do an eighties video even more. We also looked at r and b music videos, but felt we were unable to relate to them as they are often glamourous, filled with designer gear and obviously high cost.
Just for diversity within our research, we looked at rock music videos and indie music videos, but we felt these, to the other extreme from r and b, are often to depressing or realistic.
In the end we decided to do a nineties pop video because we wanted to work on a cheesey song and we wanted to play with stereotypes, special effects, such as CGI and camera variations. We felt doing a cheesey nineties pop video would give us freedom to work with these aspects and we felt we would enjoy doing it. We looked at various artists such as Venga boys, Aqua, Britney Spears, Lolly, Steps and many more. These videos had a lot of effects added during editing, they were bright, fun and enjoyable to watch. The story lines were often simple, easy to relate to and ended happily.
