CD Advertisement Research

We looked at CD advertisements to get an idea of the most popular and effective layouts. The main theme throughout is a strip across the bottom separated from the main photograph that holds an image of the CD case, CD, and information about the release date. The main image is of the artist and a name so the album can be easily be recognised as theirs. Here are some that we looked at ...

The use of black and white makes this image interesting. Design and layout are simple and easy to understand. The image on the posters is similar to that on the CD cover. This makes the CD easily recognised in shops. This is a good tactic. The CD has also been placed as part of the image but is separated by the grey strip. The image is not too busy which looks good.

This design is very simple but is not very interesting. The image used on the CD is the same as that on the poster. Not much information has been placed at the bottom and the Strip is empty. This is a bad design. The center image is too small and does not stand out enough against the background.

This design looks good because the title is bold and the pattern design is interesting. This poster also has the strip at the bottom with the CD package and information. The way the images link by coming out of their area looks good. The contrast between black and white and colour makes the different sections stand out against each other.
