After we had written our scripts we decided to begin with our voxpops with members of the public saying why they like to listen to our radio station, Dynamite FM, and then recorded the news headlines and our banter that led into the voxpops about what people remembered about school, followed by recording the actual voxpops.
Once this was done we then recorded our outside broadcast. We used to older students to be a reporter and a police officer. We recorded our voxpops outside near the main road with a zoom portable recorder so that we got the background noise of cars passing by. This helped to identify that the interview was being held outside which is what we wanted as the report was meant to be from the outside of a murder victim's home.
After recording the external aspects, we then went back into the studio to record the sport, weather and traffic. We used three people to report on these topics. We used male voice for the sport as sport is connotated as a male dominated theme, while we used female voice for the weather, as from looking at other radio shows, we learned that weather on the radio is mainly hosted by women.
Jonathan then realised that we needed links into and out of the topics and show itself, so he recorded himself introducing the news show and ending the show by introducing music from his friend as it then showed that the news report is over and the radio's music show is beginning.
In our next group meeting, we decided to add more to our sport section by doing an outside interview with 'Jamie Carragher' using two males, one as the reporter, and one to be Carragher. This interview linked in with our football news about Liverpool winning a match against Athletico Madrid.
