Cover Summary

I have recently completed my front cover and I am very pleased with the end result. The background image is a close up of my model Katie Hitchen (referred to as Zoe Sinclair in the magazine). Katie is looking directly into the camera fiercely and with “attitude”. The whole cover is in black and white, except the picture of Katie which I edited further using Photoshop and the “diffuse glow tool” to make the colours contrast, and Katie stand out more. The black and white theme also conotates an upper class “superior” ideology. I only used two different fonts on the cover to ensure continuity, and not over complex the page. The two fonts I used were “Capture It” and “Impact” I embossed and added a stroke to each piece of text to ensure it stood out and didn’t fade into the background. The necessary codes and conventions I included were; a barcode, tagline, masthead, price and date. Finally when it came to choosing article titles I ensured I included names that would reflect the genre of my magazine i.e. Kanye West and Ne-Yo, also mentioning things such as myspace and the MTV awards, targets my audience of teenagers, the majority of them girls.
