Collecting Vox-pops

Objectives
-Upload and edit if necessary, the vox-pops collected
-Order the vox-pops in relation to opinions, varying negative and positive views.

8th&9th November
As we have a feature on new sex education laws we felt, vox-pops would be an apt auditory semiotic to use. Many people hold views upon such topical issues, therefore we collected a range of opinions, including different gender, age and ethnic mix. We chose to ask a young and older people which gave us diverse views to represent the 'voice of the people'. So, over the weekend, Rachael and Jade went out in Standish, their local town, and asked various people their views on sex education being made compulsory within primary schools. We rented the recording equipment out over the weekend to ensure we had time to collect a range of opinions, and to ensure there were more people, the weekend was peek time. Now we plan to use the vox-pops gathered in our new bulletins, following a pre-recorded interview with people of opposing views; in relation to sex education, we may use a sexual education representative and a mother. The vox-pops we collected were of high quality and we were able to include them relatively easily, however we decided to lower the decibels of each clip as, when played we felt they were too loud and sounded quite severe. Through the use of our vox-pops we have allowed the audience a personal response, by gauging their response to the issue raised, audience participation plays a key role in audio production.
