For my print coursework I am going to produce a front cover, a contents page and a double page spread for a music magazine. To do this I will research what types of tag lines, names, photographs and layouts exsisting magazines use for their front pages, contents pages and double page spreads. I will also be working independantly therefore all the research will be produced by myself.
I have already started to research some magazine , looking at the fonts , colours and layouts on them. I am going to call my magazine "The Voom!" and it will be aimed at teens and young adults.
Below are some images of front covers that I have looked at when doing my research. They are all front covers from "rock/alternative" genres as this is the genre of my magazine.

By looking at these 2 magazines, NME and Q, I saw that both are aimed at both young and middle aged audiences. I looked at the layout of the front covers and his really helped me as the are always very constant and used a constant theme throughout the cover in the font they used and the pictures they used. Both NME and Q have rock/alternative themes which is the theme in which I would like to have for my magazine. I will take ideas from both of these magazines and combine them with my own ideas for my front cover. When researching front covers it became very clear that to be successful with a magazine your front cover would need to be bold and show immediatley the genre and what the magazine is about. I really like the bold title and pictures that Q magazine use, and also the bold headlines which stand out and show clearly what the main story is.
Whilst doing further research I eventually decided that I would make my front cover quite retro and young and would do the same with the the double page spread. I would make the titles bold and make the pages quite busy.
